At Word of Life Church in North Port, we believe not only that believing is important, but what you believe is important. For instance, some years ago I read an article in Moody Magazine about Cults. In that article, they had a graphic of the answers each cult gave to several questions. Two of the questions asked were “do you believe in Jesus?” and “what do you believe about Jesus?” I remember reading how a mushroom cult answered these questions:
- Do you believe in Jesus? Yes
- What do you believe about Jesus? He was a mushroom
The second answer really clarified things about their “faith” in Jesus didn’t it?
We believe in Jesus Christ at First Presbyterian, but as He is presented to us in the Bible –
For us the Bible is the only rule for faith and practice, infallible, inerrant, the very Word of God –
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2Timothy 3:16-17 NKJ)
If you would like to know what we believe the Bible teaches, more detail, our church and our denomination subscribes to the Westminster Standards:
We definitely believe in a six day creation and not in 1800s pseudo science –
