In the scriptures cited below, all are taken from the NKJV.
In the center of our Word of Life logo is a Bible. This picture symbolizes the central importance the Bible has to our life as a church. We not only count the Bible inerrant, but it is our chief guide, helping us to live God-honoring lives in a sin-filled world.
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11
Yet, for us the Bible is even more, it is the Word of Life itself, as it is the seed of the New Birth – 1 Peter 1:23-25 and the beginning of eternal life which we have in Jesus Christ, it is the Bible that tells us about Jesus Christ, we do not know Him without it – John 5:39
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:23–25
39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. John 5:39
The Bible not only directs us to Jesus Christ but also to His cross, which along with Christ resurrection is central to the Bible’s teaching, about how we are saved. He died that we might live, and live abundantly –
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. John 10:10–11
The cross pictured in our logo of course pictures for us, Christ’s cross – 1 Corinthians 1:18.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The bright light beams emanating from the Bible in our logo apply both to the Bible and Jesus Christ as both are lights, even lights of life –
נ Nun 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
More, of course can be said of all these things, so give us, and more importantly give God a try –
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8
